Qur'aan Contemplation

[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. [38:29]
This is a series encouraging contemplation on the ayaat of the Qur'aan.  We will be posting a series of verses.  Read the verses in Arabic a few times.  If you do not understand Arabic, follow up by reading the meaning.  Reflect on the verses and think about what you understand from them.  Is there something you can relate to in your life?  Can you derive any lessons from them?  Do they make you realize or appreciate anything?  You don't have to make any profound observations... just read and reflect and respond to the Qur'aan.
Post your comments below the article.  This is intended to be an interactive series and comments will be moderated by Sheikh Younus Kathrada.

Contemplation [3:103]

And hold firmly to the rope of Allaah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allaah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allaah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided. [3:103]

Contemplation [67:30]

Say, "Have you considered: if your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?" [67:30]

Contemplation [18:23-24]

And never say of anything, "Indeed, I will do that tomorrow," Except [when adding], "If Allaah wills." And remember your Lord when you forget [it] and say, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to right conduct." [18:23-24]

Contemplation [14:42-43]

And never think that Allaah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror]. Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void. [14:42-43]
Tip of the day:
If Allaah speaks of the punishment of certain crimes (i.e. stealing, adultery, etc...) think of why it is so severe

Contemplation [66:6]

O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allaah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded. [66:6]
Tip of the day:
When reading verses speaking of Paradise, try to picture yourself there, try to hear the sounds and smell the fragrances. Imagine how wonderful it is and you will be driven to work for it. When reading verses of punishment and descriptions of the grave and Hell, try to picture and imagine them so you will be driven to do what is in your means to avoid the punishment. For example, try to imagine what it would be like to be branded on your forehead and sides with a hot iron! Most of us have been burned before, imagine a heat at least 70 times that.
