So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me. [2:152]
Tip of the day:
While reading the Quraan, read it as a message from Allaah to you.

Being grateful to Allaah heart means to acknowledge and firmly believe with the heart that the favour/blessing is from Allaah Alone and this leads to one loving Allaah more for it.
As for showing gratitude with the tongue, then is by talking about Allaah's favours (not in a boasting manner).
As for showing gratitude with one's limbs, then this is done by showing obedience to Allaah and using the favours in a manner pleasing to Allaah.
We should not deny Allaah's favours. We learn from the authentic sunnah that when Allaah blesses an individual, He likes to see its traces on him. For example, if one is blessed with (Islaamic) knowledge it should show:
1. In the person's attitude, conduct and behaviour
2. In his imparting that knowledge as much as possible
3. In the person's inviting towards Allaah wherever possible upon knowledge and wisdom.

If we remember Allaah, He remembers us and His remembering us is greater than us remembering Him. Refer to the hadeeth Qudsi mentioned by Amatullaah in comment #2.
Remembering Allaah in the heart is most important. This done by pondering over His mny signs, loving Him, admiring Him, glorifying Him, relying upon Him, turning to Him, fearing Him and so forth.
As for remembering Him with the tongue, then it is by uttering that which draws us closer to Him and the best of that we can utter are the words Laa ilaaha illa Allaah (there is no (true) deity besides Allaah.
As for remembering Allaah with our limbs, then it is by doing anything that draws us closer to Him such as: standing in prayer (salaah), bowing, prostrating, doing jihaad, paying zakaah and so forth.

The action required of us is to "remember" Allaah and the recompense/reward is that Allaah will remember us.
Remembrance of Allaah is with the heart, tongueand limbs.
Be grateful: and the best way of showing gratitude is through showing obedience to the one who has favoured you.

5) Another thing to note is that we have to take the first action. If we want Allaah to remember us, we have to remember Him FIRST. We must initiate!!!

6) How can we remember and how can we be grateful?
i) By obeying Him
ii) By doing thikr, keeping our tongues and hearts busy in praising and remembering Him
iii) By reading and contemplating Qur'aan
iv) By trying to attend gatherings of seeking knowledge
v) By making dua
vi) By contemplating the signs in the universe
vii) By seeking forgiveness

What else can we do? Any other suggestions?

7) How can we manifest this remembrance and gratitude outwardly?
i) By helping others
ii) By being conscious of Him and avoiding sins
iii) By enjoining good and forbidding evil, thus reminding others of Allaah

Any other suggestions?

May Allaah give us the tawfeeq to remain connected with the Qur'aan and make us the companions of the Qur'aan.

3) We see many times that two actions are mentioned, where the recompense is like the first action. So for example, if we remember Allaah, he will recompense by remembering us. Wa lillaahil mathalul a'ala. His remembrance is not comparable to ours.

4) I remember the hadith qudsi in which the Prophet, sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam, narrated: "Allaah says: 'I am to my servant as he expects of Me, I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers me in an gathering, I mention him in an gathering better than his, and if he draws nearer to Me a hand's span, I draw nearer to him an arm's length, and if he draws nearer to Me an arm's length, I draw nearer to him a fathoms length, and if he comes to me walking, I rush to him at [great] speed. 1) Allaah is telling us to remember Him. So we should try and remember Allaah with the best remembrance.

2) Allaah is asking us to be grateful. It is interesting, it says do not deny me, so it is like being ungrateful to Allaah is a kind of kufr! When was the last time we were grateful? Alhamdulillaahi bi nimatihi tutimmus saalihaat.
