Contemplation [2:214]

E-mail Print PDF
Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allaah ?" Unquestionably, the help of Allaah is near. [2:214]

There is consolation for the believers in this verse. Allaah reminds us what nations of the past went through so we will be more brave and prepared.
We learn that Imaan (faith) is not merely a claim and desire, but one must be sincere and be patient and persevere when tested in the way of Allaah.
Tests and trials are inevitable for believers, so be preapared and hang in there!
Being patient and persevering through trials is a means of entering Paradise.
Finally, we should never despair! Allaah's help is near; the fact that it is being withheld for the time being is from the wisdom of Allaah.

We give up very easily, even with small tests. What happened with the Muslims first accepted Islaam in Makkah? They were treated so badly, physically tortured, ostracized in the community, sanctions were placed against them, they were not just socially excluded but even had very little to eat. And because they went through this, we are still benefiting from their sabr, it is through these people with strong eemaan that Islaam spread far and wide

Allah Subhanatala will test the people of Ad, Tamud, Hud, Salih, Lut, Nuh, Suhib (AS) and reminding us to keep the commandments of Allah and steadfast and patient and persererence and then Allah Subhanatala help is near

1) This verse begins with a rhetorical question and that emphasizes the seriousness of the message.

2) The team of the believers is the winning team, but one has to undergo serious testing to be a member.

3) The nations before us were tried, so how can we expect that we will get a ticket to jannah just by having a "Muslim" label?

4) Now we are reminded that the tests of the previous nations were much tougher than ours, to the point where even their messenger were in desperation.

5) And then, changing the whole tone, from the reminder of that fact that trials are inevitable and the comparison with previous nations, we are then left with words full of hope - the help of Allaah is NEAR!

6) Allaah knows us so well, so even though He reminds us of the tests, he reminds us that His help is at hand.

7) The feeling at the end of this verse is not fear of the tests or despondency, but HOPE!

some of us want to enter Paradise without doing anything. we always remember that Allah is Gaphoor and Haleem. but we seem to forget that He also Shadeed al Iquab. we seem to also forget that the product of Allah is very expensive. the Product of Allah is Paradise. so we have to work very hard for this product and we also have to endure hardships in order to deserve such product. Just like the people before us, they had hardships and they endure all of that for the sake of Allah, so they earned the Mercy of Allah and then Paradise.
